More Dad

Finally, the diagnosis that explains the precipitous decline: Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis a/k/a ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Neurologist says could be a matter of weeks to a maximum of about six months. I guess if one is going to contract this bad boy, better to do it at 82 than 45.

Hi Scooter -- so sorry to hear about your dad. My best wishes to you as you go through the coming difficult weeks and months. I guess there's some small blessing in knowing where the finish line is so you'll be able to get things said that should be said, if you haven't already.

Thanks, Stephanie. Big pow-wow this weekend with Mom and the four sibs about where we go from here. I've been trying to get those things said ever since his retirement about seven years ago.

You're right about knowing about the finish line, too, even if not about getting those things said. It's nice to know that this will not be a long, drawn out event especially for my Mom.

Thanks, again.
