I ADMIT THAT I AM SQUEALING WITH DELIGHT

AND JUMPING UP AND DOWN.

Update 10/10/09: Twitter trending topics as of 10:36 am Central (It's been bumping around the top 10 for 18 hours or so)

Update 10/11/09: Google knows. Adam is the top suggestion when you search just "ad":
I wonder if, before 2010 is over, Google will return "Adam Lambert" with merely an "a" in the search box.

Update 10/13/09:
(h/t ontd_ai)
From Wikipedia:
Greg Wells is a musician and Grammy nominated record producer and mixer [1] based in Los Angeles. Wells has produced, mixed and written hits with Katy Perry, OneRepublic, Mika, Pink, Colbie Caillat, Jamie Cullum, Deftones, Otep, The Veronicas, Jessie Baylin, Rufus Wainwright, Kyosuke Himuro and Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance, Creeper Lagoon, Natasha Bedingfield, Team Sleep, Jars of Clay, Anna Waronker, Hilary Duff, Hanson, Latin popstar Belinda, and the Count Basie Orchestra.

Wells produced Katy Perry's #1 hit "Waking Up In Vegas", producing four songs and co-writing two on the hit album One of the Boys including "UR So Gay". Wells wrote Kelly Clarkson's hit single "I Do Not Hook Up" with Katy Perry and Kara DioGuardi which peaked at #8 on the US top forty, as well as writing/producing a track on the deluxe version of Pink's latest record Funhouse.
Wells produced the "'Apologize" remix by Timbaland and the original version by OneRepublic making it one of the most successful selling and charting songs of the decade.[2] With sales of over 4.3 million digital downloads in the US alone, "'Apologize" is now the second-highest legally downloaded song in US digital history.

Update II (10/13/09); Adam is going to perform live at the American Music Awards on Nov. 22. There will be fire and dancers.

Update III (10/13/09): We learn today from an interview that Lyndsay Parker does with Rob Cavallo (producer for TFM) that Adam can sing every note that a guitar can play (4 octaves; 5 E's, I believe).

Update (10/15/09): How big a deal is Adam about to be? He kissed his boyfriend Drake Tuesday night in the midst of paparazzi and press all over the world is covering it. Iceland here and Peru here, for example, both posted at livejournal.com/hooplamagnet. Thanks to our friend Asta for the Iceland story. So either Adam is poised for a global career the likes of which we've never quite seen before or the entire world is starved for pics of beautiful boys kissing.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT ACTORS AND DIALOGUE AND SUCH ARE UNNECESSARY. JUST LET ADAM SING THROUGH ALL THE FOOTAGE.

PREVIOUSLY-EXISTING DIVAS (I'M LOOKING AT YOU CELINE): YOU ARE ALL OUT OF BUSINESS NOW. SORRY ABOUT YOUR CAREERS.

OK WHY?

Why what?

Are you saying you don't like it?! It's not like the song itself is that great. In the hands of other singers, blah. But ADAM turns it into something amazing. His voice with the glissando-ing violins: yum.

btw, this is just a snippet of the song. Will be 4:30.

THE VIDEO DIDN'T COME UP ON MY BB SO I DIDNT KNOW WHAT YOU WERE SQUEALING ABOUT...

I'm calling this right now: This is your Oscar-winner for Best Original Song. Even if its big-ness didn't earn it the win, it's got a back story that will get it an Oscar. It was written by Natasha Shneider and her husband Alain Johannes. Shneider has since died of cancer.

I'll just keep adding to the bottom of this post for my own amusement and normal non-Adam-obsessed people can easily ignore it.

I'd say is 40/60 - world domination/boykissing starvation ;)

The song is no doubt good enough to qualify for an Oscar. The problem as I see it is that due to the new rules at least 3 songs need to receive a high enough score for the category to be included. So we need 2 other really good movie songs if it's going to happen at all.

Asta -- had not heard about that new rule. OK, I'll revise my prediction: presuming the song gets to compete for an Oscar, it'll win.

Eligibility rule for the 82nd Acad Awards (presented in 2010 for 2009 work) is here: http://www.oscars.org/awards/academyawards/rules/rule16.html

In the Original Song category, Music Branch members shall meet to screen clips of the eligible songs and vote on the achievements. A DVD copy of the song clips will be made available to those Branch members who are unable to attend the screening and who request it for home viewing. Voting shall be conducted as follows:
Nominations will be determined by an averaged point system of voting using 10, 9.5, 9, 8.5, 8, 7.5, 7, 6.5 or 6. Only those songs receiving an average score of 8.25 or more shall normally be eligible for nomination. There may not be more than five nominations. If no song receives an average score of 8.25 or more, there will be no nominees. If only one song achieves that score, it and the song receiving the next highest score shall be the two nominees. If two or more songs (up to five) achieve that score, they shall be the nominees.

Ok - I hadn't heard that last part. Probably got left out of whatever news report I read it in. That should give us a little more hope :)

Yep, I think we can be confident that TFM will get more than an 8.25, so I think there'll be at least two nominees and I predict a win.
