I demand
a time of possession analysis. If Barry didn't talk for 66% or more of the time, I'll eat my hat. Did anyone see Barry give the signal to Schieffer to cut McCain off? Schieffer tried to, but McCain didn't let him, at least that time.
I thought Mac did poorly, but apparently the rightblogosphere disagrees, even the poll at AOL has them tied. Either I'm just too tough on my team or my political instincts are nil, and I suspect it's the latter.
Still want to see a time of talking breakdown, although no one else has mentioned it, so maybe I'm just clueless.
CBS, CNN, Fox instant polls say Obama won. Youtube hit of McCain making weird face. I saw just a little of it last night. Thought McCain was sort of OK, but his rage/contempt and spouting of right blogosphere stuff made him seem goofy and out of touch. Didn't see much, though, so that may not be fair.
JPod: The problem, in my view, is that the shorthand in which McCain spoke about these matters made them comprehensible only to those of us who are already schooled in them. In almost every case, Obama answered McCain’s shorthand with longhand — with detailed, even long-winded answers that gave the distinct impression he was more in command of the details of these charges than the man who was trying to go after him on them.
We’re not the audience for these debates. Undecided voters are, and undecided voters are, or so studies tell us, often astonishingly ill-informed. You can only bring up new issues if you’re able pithily to explain the context and meaning of them. It is not a rap on McCain to say he’s not good at it; he doesn’t want to bother with the introduction. But in a setting like that, the introduction is what matters, far more than the attack.
Obama's usually horrible at providing the intro, so that's a credit to his debate prep, I guess.
I just watched this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNzsxTj0dnM
Yikes. Good thing I didn't watch before bed last night or McCain would have given me nightmares with those faces. And I don't even think this is the famous clip of his weird faces which I haven't seen yet.

The Corner and Ace think McCain won. I'm afraid I can't agree.
I didn't get to see it.
I'm reading that McCain referred to Trig as "autistic". Did that happen?! Sheesh.

I have the transcript. I can put it in word and do a word count, but dont have time right now. Any bets on the outcome?
Was there some prohibition against saying more words than your opponent?
or are you saying McCain goofed by not spending the time necessary to spell out his plans?
As you of course know, neither. My point, as you know, was that Schieffer let Barry drone on and on while several times cutting McCain off.
Ah -- didn't know he cut McCain off. Haven't seen that in clips I've seen. Thought McCain just quit talking.
