Anne Rice and Athens, Texas

This was a real surprise. I don’t listen to a lot of the NR Between the Covers interviews but the Anne Rice interview intrigued me because of her recent re-conversion to Christianity. About three-quarters of the way through, she mentions Athens [update in case I have a reader: my hometown, kinda] as a place with which Hollywood is unfamiliar.

I'd say so.

Interesting. Always curious to hear conversion stories. I can't say I followed hers in this interview, though I suppose that what the book is for. She keeps using the word "admits", as though she hadn't really ceased to believe but had just suppressed belief until she admitted it.

From what little I know, her late husband was an atheist and she went back to the church after his death.

I get missing the church itself. And I get people going from nonChristian to saved; and I get people going from saved to no-longer-believing. (Those are both linear progressions or regressions.) But I don't get going full circle -- has to imply some new insight and she doesn't really describe it.
