Re: DB
Appears everyone jumped the gun, for different reasons. The Dims because they saw it as a way to get some homeland defense cred and Rethugs because, on it's face, its seemed suicidal. Looks like everyone is wrong and BUSHMcCHIMPHITTLER was right.
Lileks for details of national security? No. Gaffney, yes and I read what he said and I'm not convinced (despite what I wrote earlier) because his job is to raise the worst case senario, and I'm glad he does, but I've read too much today that points otherwise.
Of course I wouldn't rely on Lileks for security issues, but you knew that already. I just meant that my gut was similar to his.
My whole leaning about the Middle East for years has been that maybe, maybe, we should have gone to Iran (not necessarily sayig war but mor intensive efforts) before Iraq...so I have a sense of...what's the word...sypatico with Gaffney.

I'm still not ready to buy it even if lots of smarter folks are telling me I'm wrong.
Interesting. Can you make independent judgments about such things? Don't we rely on experts we trust, i.e., Gaffney, to help us sort it out?
At a minimum, politically. Where was Rove?
Unless there is a "slam-dunk" reason behind all this, I'm still with Gaffney and Lileks.
