Japanese Arisaka Rifle with Bayonet

Stephanie, you're a genius. That is exactly it. I should have thought Japanese from the beginning since my dad was part of the occupation.

Pretty amazing that you were able to find with just the pictures.

Found it accidentally, searching for rifle bayonets with no markings. Found instead a story about the markings on the bayonets on Japanese rifles... BTW, are there any little marks on the bayonet? http://www.radix.net/~bbrown/japanese_markings.html

I've looked and just looked again. Can't see anything on the bayonet or the receiver (assuming I've actually figured out what the receiver is).

I just read that radix.net info all the way through, which I hadn't before. I see that it says that as a matter of honor the JP soldiers would rub the Imperial marking off before surrendering weapons.

Saw that. Maybe mine was such a rifle.
