Ahem

Haven't there been some revelations about Imam Rauf's nefarious connections that you want to share, Michael?  I rely on you for such news, so I was disappointed to have to get it from Jon Stewart.

I think maybe NOW I'm opposed to the building of the mosque because of its frightening connections to Fox News.

I haven't commented on the funding, except to tell you offline that there is no funding and therefore it's a hoax. I do think asking about Rauf's motives is fair game.

If you watch the clip, you'll have another possible bad motive to consider. Perhaps the mosque and Fox are in cahoots for financial gain. Funding and intent all wrapped into one theory.

I'd be interested in knowing your sources, Michael. A search (admittedly cursory) of a few leading conservative websites (freerepublic, worldnetdaily, et al) failed to find any evidence to back your contention that any of part of this is a "hoax".

SupraL: First: the Freepers and World Net Daily are NOT leading conservative websites. I know the first as a bunch of jokesters and don't even know what the second one is. If you want to look at intelligent conservative thought, start with National Review Online.

Second, speaking for myself and other conservatives I know, not every position we take, nor every idea we have, comes from what we read online; sometimes we actual have original thoughts, so I can't direct you to a source.

I have no evidence it's a hoax but that's what I have concluded it is. Since hoaxes aren't revealed as hoaxes until the end, we'll have to wait and see if I'm right.

Thanks for reading.

And to answer the follow-up question: if it's a hoax, why do it?: See Flying Imams, supra.

To make money for Fox? I will never be done laughing about the money trail to Fox (and Fox's money trail to Republicans).

BUT, even if an oppressed group organized a provocative action to put the spotlight on their disparate treatment, like for example black people sitting at a lunch counter, I'd still be supportive.

My dear, you are truly beyond the bend. Oppressed?? Disparate treatment?? Lunch counters??

Michael said...

I see I've mixed my metaphors, or perhaps they're idioms: beyond the pale, around the bend.

Michael, maligning the sources I site is simple obfuscation, as I'm sure you're aware. At least I did a little research. It appears you have not. In fact, you have chosen to reveal that your assertion that this is a "hoax" to be nothing more than a figment of your overactive imagination, which is stunningly negligent, not to mention lazy.

SuperL: Are you responding to what I wrote? Did you read it? Did you understand it? Somewhere we disconnected badly. I've read what I wrote and am fairly confident I was responding directly to what you had written. I can't say the same for your reply. Take a deep breath and try again.

Michael, you should add Nat'l Rev to the link list. BTW, I set it so that it alphabetizes, so you don't have to manually move it to the proper position.
