I'm guessing PD is pupil distance, center to center, though of course it's impossible to find the center of a circle, geometrically speaking.

Yep. Stephanie is correct. Had a nurse at the office measure for me. Temple arm is, duh, the piece from temple to over the ear. These are measurements you need to know when picking out glasses to order glasses online. I've blown it a couple of times buying sunglasses online. My head is fat...ended up giving two pairs to my secretary.

What does this mean: Temple to temple 135 mm, my readers; 140 mm, my nike specs

The temple to temple measurement (to end of hinges not end of lenses; the width of the glasses) on my readers is 135 mm and 140 mm on my regular glasses (the nikes).

And how does the relate to some measurement on your thick noggin? is what I'm trying to find out.

Scooter, your prescription includes all these measurements, right? So you don't really need to know anything about them; you just provide them to your cheap specs place, right?

Nope. I measured my glasses to get these measurements. Then, for PD I got a nurse at the office to measure.

The optometrist should give you the PD if you ask. Apparently PD is important if one is as blind as I am.

Otherwise, these measurements are handled automatically as you try frames on at the optician's.
