Cavorting with 60's radicals
I know an actual, honest-to-god 60/70's radical who was part of a group with a name and who participated in vandalism of draft office. I don't condone vandalism of draft offices. He lives a quiet, peaceful life these days and, to my knowledge, hasn't vandalized anything since the 70s. If this man asked me to serve on a board with him to dispense charitable funds, I'd do it.

Does he now believe what he did was wrong?
I have no idea. And I wouldn't need to know the answer to serve on a charitable board with him. NOw, if he suggested at a board meeting that we all go out and vandalize a government building, I'd have to bail out and report him.
Then Barry's the president for you. Not for me, however, and I'm guessing not for most Americans once they learn the facts.
I think most people understand that we're not each responsible for the actions of everyone else in a group we belong to, particularly when the actions are 20-30 years earlier. People still belong to the Catholic Church, don't they?
We have now come around for the fourth or fifth time and I, for one, am done. It IS NOT that we think that Barry is responsible for Ayers activities. (However Barry and Ayers are responsible for their support and fostering of radcials and ACORN.) It is that Ayers hates America and always has, and always did during the time Barry spent with him. That's a problem in Barry's character and judgment. I'm not goinhg to respond anymore.
Richard Quinn.
And is it not possible for a citizen to hate the actions of the government, to believe it's overstepped its authority, but to love the country itself?
