He was an Edwards guy: Stanley told the crowd that he had cast his first vote for Harry S. Truman in 1948 and would cast his next for John Edwards in 2008-- but after Edwards fell by the wayside, Stanley endorsed Barack Obama on September 9, 2008.[18]
